PAUL O'LEARY BENNETT
In 2008 I decided that what I do best and what gives me the greatest satisfaction is to paint what is nearest and dearest to me. And that is the marshes and the countryside that surround Blythburgh where I live. Other people must paint other places and other things.
And as I am only really happy when I'm not more than five miles away from home, then the decision is made and that is what I must do for the rest of my artistic life.
So from 2009, I will have one exhibition at Blythburgh Church in the summer and then rely on people coming to see my Gallery - 'Fern Gallery' next to the church.
Fern Gallery is open every day – ‘Into the church car park, through the gap in the hedge and look for the ‘Slow Please Cats Crossing’ sign.’
My exhibition at the church in 2012 will be called 'Waterland ll'. As in 'Waterland I' last year, I will be painting the marshes and countryside around Blythburgh which I love so much.
For these series of pictures I have evolved a different technique which gets rid of the detail I have been known for and in my opinion gets closer to the essence of the marshlands that I love.
Saturday 30th June – Sunday 22nd July 2012
Hope you can come !
Oh yes, Paul Bennett is still paying the bills and receiving the cheques while my alter ego Paul O'Leary Bennett does the painting !
